Jeffrey Chew
Chairman

Jeffrey Chew is the founder and non-executive Chairman of the company.

Jeffrey began his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers and thereafter, joined Citibank, where he held various roles in customer relationship management, risk management, international offshore banking and product management.

Having joined OCBC as Head of SME Business in April 2003, Jeffrey was subsequently promoted to Head of Business Banking. He was appointed as Director and Chief Executive Officer in August 2008 and helmed the position for 6 years.

Jeffrey is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, United Kingdom and a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. And recently he was conferred as Chartered Banker designation.

He also serves as a member of the Small Debt Resolution Committee, Bank Negara Malaysia, director of Asian Banking School Sdn Bhd (Chairman, Audit Committee) and a member of the ACCA Malaysia Advisory Committee.

Currently, Jeffrey is also the Group CEO of Paramount Corporation Bhd.

He has at least 26 years of experience in the legal field. Michael has extensive expertise and experience in conveyancing, banking, construction, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, contracts, corporate law and litigation.

Besides his work as a Managing Partner of a law firm, he has been serving as an Independent Non-Executive Director on 2 boards listed on the Bursa Stock Exchange and one private state-owned company. On boards of the public listed companies, he also assumes the role of Chairman of the Nominations Committee, Chairman of the Remuneration Committee and a member of the Audit Committee. He started serving as a board member in the public listed companies since 2003.

Michael first graduated from the University of Malaya in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours), majoring in Economics. In 1990, he obtained his Bachelor of Law (with Honours) from the University of London. He was called to the Malaysian Bar and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1991.

Gary Tan
Director

Gary Tan is also one of the co-founders and a Director of Peoplender Sdn Bhd.

He has over 30 years of experience in both business and risk management with particular emphasis on SME lending. Gary is a pioneer in the development of credit programmes & scorecards for the SME market in Malaysia.

In 1997/1998, he co-authored the 1st SME credit programme in Malaysia during his tenure with Citibank Malaysia. He subsequently left Citibank to start the Programme Lending Department in RHB Bank where he developed RHB Bank’s SME Programme Lending Model (PLM).

During his tenure with OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Bhd, he was responsible for developing Malaysia’s first end-to-end SME lending model a.k.a the Enterprise Mass Market Model (EMM Model). The model was the 1st statistically validated credit scorecard & model to be certified as Advanced IRB (internal ratings-based approach) under the Basel III framework by both Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) & the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

Henry’s career spans nearly four decades within the banking and finance sector. He commenced his journey in the Business Banking and Consumer division, where he played a pivotal role in expanding the Business Banking operations across the southern region of Malaysia. Over the years, his extensive experience led to the establishment of multiple banking branches in southern Malaysia.

In 2010, Henry took on the role of Managing Director (Southern Region) at OCBC Bank, where he spearheaded the creation of the Southern Regional Hub. This strategic initiative among others focused on overseeing cross-border regional operations between Singapore and Malaysia, resulting in significantly improved accessibility to banking services in the region.

Jeff Tan
Chief Executive Officer

Jeff Tan was appointed as the CEO of Peoplender Sdn Bhd (Fundaztic) on 1 January 2023.

He was part of the pioneering team and has been with the company since 2017. Jeff began his career in banking sector after he graduated with Master Degree of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from University of Wollongong in NSW Australia. 

After more than 10 years in retail banking and management role, Jeff joined Kuwait Finance House as the Head of Sales, Retail & Consumer Banking.

Subsequently, he joined OCBC Al-Amin Bank, where he held the position of Head of EMMi Distribution (EmBi) for a period of six years.

Jeff has 21 years of experience working in the banking and finance sector, primarily as a Head of Sales started off with the development and implementation of sales strategies to achieve business objectives, sales target and revenue goals for Fundaztic. Subsequently, moving on to lead the team as Acting Chief Executive Officer before his appointment in 2023.
